A dog with an enlarged heart??

Ok so my co-worker's dog was diagnosed by a vet that she has enlarged heart (hereditary NOT caused by infection or illness). They are going to be putting her on medication and antioxidants. He is also looking up home remedies and such online. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before and what your personal outcome was. He has already spoken with the vet, I was just wondering if anyone on here had any input on this matter. Thank you!
