Gas Stove, How do a get a larger flame?

I finally got my propane stove hooked up. A typical 4 burner with an oven. My problem is that the highest setting is between low and medium heat at best. I have a low pressure regulator on it. Do I need a high pressure regulator? I'd like to set this all up myself and not have to depend on a propane company if possible. Thanx
