I have a slight darker skin discoloration on the skin on the backside of my hands, thumb area, what is this?

It's not a big deal, and people have said it might be hormonal, but I just wanna hear from other people, to see what people think it would be. It doesn't hurt or anything, its just kind of speckling (but not freckling), more of a yellow brown color. It isn't THAT noticeable, but I always see it, and I wish it would just go away. Any ideas what it is? Or what I could do about it??
