New York trip planning help?

DO NOT rent a car- public transportation is a lot faster and easier- the subways ususally get you somwwhere faster than a car would. the best shopping is on 5th ave from 14th to 19th, on lexington ave from 55th to 60th st, and around 34 and broadway . if your looking for a discount dept store theres century 21 downtown on cortlandt st near wall st- they are all designers discounted. i can recommend a fabulous restaurant that i go to about every 2 weeks- its a spanish/ mexican restaurant in the village on west 4th between 6th and 7th called Tio Pepe (tiopepenyc.com) its sooo good and their margharitas are the absolute best. very reasonably priced also- its a must go to restaurant. for tourists- hang out in battery park for a while (great views of the statue of liberty) and theres lots of touristy type street shows and such down there. times square is a must- but if its a weekday your going then i would try to go there in the morning just after rush hour- about 930ish cause it gets crazy crowded there.
